Hi everybody!
I'm really fond of all of my sweaters and cardigans, because they're so cute and comfortable. The downside to living in the desert is that I can rarely ever wear my sweaters out without the risk of heatstroke. I saw some cute sweater skirts on Pinterest, but they all involved lots of cutting and sewing. So, I put together this photo tutorial to show you how to wear your sweater as a skirt, no sewing needed.
Step 1: Place your sweater around your midsection. Sweaters with rounded or v-necks work the best for this tutorial. Sweaters with slouchy necklines will slide off, and necklines that are too small won't fit at all! Adjust the sweater to wherever you want it to sit. I liked mine to sit right at the waistline.
Step 2: Grab your the sweater arms, and tie it them in a knot. You'll want to flatten out the arms before tying, otherwise there will be lots of wrinkles around the sides.
Step 3: Before moving on, adjust the way the sweater arms sit. Carefully adjust the fabric, and smooth it all out so that there are no suspicious lumps or bumps.
Step 4 (optional): If you have any flaps or extra fabric that refuses to be smoothed out, grab a pretty pin or brooch to keep it in place.
Step 5: Now that all the fabric is smoothed out, you can add a second knot. This is recommended in order to avoid wardrobe malfunctions later on.
Ta-da! Now you're all done and rocking an über cute sweater skirt.
This method also works on button down shirts, as long as the style is slouchy enough to fit around your torso. The best part is, at the end of the day, you can still wear your sweater normally!
I hope you enjoyed!
